Pinders tell story of latest phase of Barnsley’s regeneration
Sheffield digital print experts have produced huge new graphics telling the story of the latest phase of Barnsley’s ongoing regeneration.

Pinders have produced 64 graphic panels which will surround the £11 million redevelopment of the new Barnsley Civic Hall.

Words and graphics will give Barnsley residents and visitors an insight into the transformation work going on behind the panels.

Originally built in the late 1800s, the hall has been the cornerstone of the town for more than 100 years and the project to transform it will see the building reclaim its prominence.

The conversion will create three floors of design and craft shops, studio workspaces, a large exhibition area and an event centre, which will enable people to go shopping and see social events and performances all under one roof. The Civic Hall will also contain Barnsley Council's new Community Information Service, the main reception area for customers seeking to access council services.

Pinders graphic panels were produced using their VUTEk wide format digital print technology. The machine allows Pinders to produce full coloured, finished, weatherproof graphics directly onto virtually any surface up to two metres wide for projects including photographic backdrops, vinyl banners, packaging, display boards, construction industry boards and point of sale material.

David Whiteway, Joint Managing Director at Pinders, said: “Barnsley Civic Hall is a highly prestigious South Yorkshire regeneration project to be involved in and further showcases our ability to produce high quality, large format graphics for almost any purpose.”

Pinders Pioneer Latest Superwide Digital Print Technology
Sheffield print experts Pinders are investing £200,000 to make their wide format print capability the most advanced in the region.

Pinders are upgrading their cutting edge VUTEK superwide format digital printing press, doubling the company’s output and improving print quality.

The new VUTEk QS2000 seven colour printing press will be located at Pinders’ Attercliffe copy shop and supercedes the company’s existing original six colour press, specially imported from USA in 2005.

For the first time the high-definition press will be able to print white ink, allowing Pinders to print window graphics and other transparent materials more easily.

The pioneering upgrade will also continue to allow Pinders to produce print work across a wide spectrum of promotional and marketing initiatives from personal work to huge advertising billboards and building wraps.

The superwide format press produces full coloured, finished, weatherproof graphics directly onto virtually any surface up to two metres wide for projects including photographic backdrops, vinyl banners, packaging, display boards, construction industry boards and point of sale material.

David Whiteway, joint managing director of Pinders, based on Moore Street, said: “The acquisition of this machine further establishes Pinders as one of the region’s largest, most innovative and progressive digital printers. The upgraded machine is twice as fast as the original, meaning a far increased print capacity and improved lead times for our customers.

“The original VUTEk press we aquired in 2005 has been a massive success and this latest upgrade not only places us at the forefront of technology in large digital and bespoke finishing, but offers Pinders’ customers impressive solutions to their creative ideas both for one-offs and volume work."
